Sustainable doesn't have to be unobtainable! Shop small businesses! Shop Local! you've probably heard these terms as of late, but do you really know why this is so important? Fast fashion practices around the world are polluting waterways and creating unimaginable suffering and hardship for human beings on a daily basis.

The Environmental Protection Agency, reports that 15.1 million tons of textile waste was generated in 2013, of which 12.8 million tons were discarded. That number has only increased with time.  Countries around the world are literally bombarded with tons of second hand clothing waste every year.  The U. S. is the largest exporter of second hand clothing.  It exports over a billion pounds of used clothing every year. Not to mention child labor, unsatisfactory work conditions, pay and health services are standard for "sweatshops" or unregulated facilities.

Companies use toxic dyes in production and about 15% of fabric intended for clothing ends up on the cutting room floor. This waste rate has been tolerated in the industry for decades.

  The urgency to change the way we view consuming goods has never been more apparent. August Valentine offers a solution to the pollution. The process is simple use recycled, vintage, donated or otherwise discarded roll fabric from major producers to make small batch and one of a kind pieces for release back into the world.  We take pride in our handmade products and attention is paid to details, structure and stability of pieces to ensure you have a quality piece that will last.  We may not always have the SAME items in stock but the items we have are made ethically and unique.
